Pianoverse – Liberty Upright

The Liberty Upright from IK Multimedia is a deeply sampled virtual piano based on a 1915 Koch & Korselt upright grand from Bohemia. Captured twice—first in its original relic condition with naturally detuned strings and soft damping, then after a master tuner restored it—this instrument offers two distinct tonal personalities. The relic version has a warm, almost reverb-like resonance, while the tuned version delivers a clear, rich upright sound. Recorded with AKG 414 and DPA microphones in IK’s Modena studio, it provides close and rear-miked perspectives. Ideal for singer-songwriters, producers, and composers seeking old-world character for pop, rock, jazz, or cinematic tracks. It suits hobbyists using FL Studio, Ableton, or Logic who want an expressive, historically rich piano sound with unique creative potential.
