Red Rock Sound EQ173 is a Windows preamp and EQ plugin inspired by a 1970-era Class A transistor mic/line amplifier. It combines vintage-style tonal shaping with flexible channel routing, making it useful for home producers who want to adjust stereo tracks, work in mid/side, or handle more complex multichannel mixes.
Four EQ units run in series, with each unit assignable to selected channels. You can apply separate settings to the mid and side signals, then use another unit to process both left and right. In surround sessions, individual units can target channels such as the center or LFE. Renameable unit buttons, solo and bypass controls, and settings copying help keep these configurations manageable.
EQ173 offers 44 routing presets, ranging from stereo to layouts including 7.1.4 and 9.1.6. Custom routing profiles support up to 16 independent channels. Available in 32-bit and 64-bit VST2 and VST3 formats, it suits compatible Windows hosts such as FL Studio and Ableton Live. It is particularly relevant for producers who need different EQ treatment across multiple parts of a signal.
