The Red Rock Sound HLF-3C is a free passive-style EQ plugin that recreates the behavior of a vintage hardware low-cut and high-cut filter unit. It offers 12 dB per octave slopes with ten low-cut frequencies (50 Hz to 2 kHz) and ten high-cut frequencies (1.5 kHz to 15 kHz), letting you remove unwanted lows and highs on individual tracks or submixes without making the result sound harsh. Unlike the original passive hardware, which loses signal level when inserted, the plugin provides unity gain until you engage a filter, so it fits easily into modern mixes. A simple interface includes a bypass switch, rotary filter selectors, A/B comparison, undo/redo, preset saving and loading, and optional oversampling up to 8x for cleaner processing. It runs as VST2, VST3, AAX, and AU on Windows and macOS, making it suitable for hobby producers using FL Studio, Ableton Live, or Logic Pro who want musical, retro-flavored tone shaping on instruments, drums, and subgroups.
