Shortcircuit XT is an open-source software sampler designed for producers who treat sampling as an instrument, not just a library player. It lets you drag and drop samples directly into the multi without dealing with complex instrument hierarchies, making it fast to add and edit individual samples. You can group samples for multi-sampling or kit building when needed, but the complexity stays out of the way until you want it. Each voice has two filter slots with a wide range of algorithms beyond standard lowpass, highpass, bandpass, notch, and peak filters—including distortion, parametric/graphic/morphing EQ, bit reduction, gating, limiting, slew-rate distortion, ring modulation, frequency shifting, phase modulation (FM), and analog-style oscillators you can mix with the sample. High-quality interpolation preserves your source material at any pitch, and oversampling prevents aliasing. This nightly build is experimental and not recommended for regular use—it may be unstable or incomplete. It is aimed at hobby producers and developers interested in an open-source sampling tool. Available as VST2 and VST3 on Linux.
