Spectrasonics Omnisphere 2.8 is a software synthesizer for producers who want to explore layered patches, wavetable synthesis and granular sound design in one instrument. It suits hobby musicians and experienced sound designers alike, whether they prefer browsing presets or building sounds from their own recordings.
Each patch can contain four layers, with over 500 DSP wavetables, 34 filter types per part and extensive modulation options. Drag an audio file onto the interface to use it as a sound source, then reshape it with granular processing, Harmonia or other creative tools. Eight LFOs and 12 envelopes per part provide plenty of scope for movement.
The arpeggiator offers chord voicings, strumming modifiers, pitch slides and step dividers, plus MIDI file capture for further editing. For hands-on control, Hardware Synth Integration maps supported synthesizers to Omnisphere’s controls. Its Hardware Library adds over 1,600 patches that remain available even without a hardware controller.
For Windows producers, Omnisphere offers a broad toolkit for programming synth parts, experimenting with textures and developing custom sounds.
