SSL 4000 E Channel Strip

The SSL 4000 E Channel Strip by Universal Audio brings the legendary British console sound to your DAW as a native plug-in. Modeled after the original hardware, it captures the punchy, warm character of the SSL preamp and VCA compressor. You get both the musical ‘brown knob’ and surgical ‘black knob’ four-band EQs, each with iconic band interactions. The compressor can go from subtle glue to aggressive smack, perfect for vocals, drums, guitars, and full mixes. PRE-DYN lets you route EQ before dynamics, and DYN-SC enables frequency-dependent compression. Whether you’re adding presence to vocals, heft to bass, or clarity to a drum bus, this channel strip delivers the unmistakable SSL sound. It suits hobby producers mixing in FL Studio, Ableton, or Logic who want album-ready tones without leaving the box. Unison technology for Apollo owners provides hardware-level impedance and gain staging.
