SSL Blitzer

SSL Blitzer is a versatile character compressor that covers everything from gentle, saturating compression to aggressive brick-wall limiting. Inspired by classic hardware like the 1176 and LA-2A, it offers 10 unique compression curves across 10 ratios, each with its own distinct shape and tone. Use the DRIVE control to add vintage-style harmonic colour, from subtle warmth to full distortion, while the TRANSIENTS control lets you adjust attack for added punch. BLITZ! mode slams your signal with an ‘all buttons in’ character, perfect for room mics or energizing a full mix. The detection sidechain HPF keeps low frequencies from triggering compression—ideal for drum busses—and a bell filter tames harsh vocals. AUTO GAIN maintains output levels, MIX enables parallel compression, and the 1:1 ratio adds soft saturation without compressing. With cross-platform presets, A/B comparison, undo/redo, and contextual help, Blitzer suits producers seeking flexible, vintage-flavoured dynamics control.
