Studer A800 Tape Recorder

The Studer A800 Tape Recorder plug-in from Universal Audio brings the authentic sound of the legendary 2-inch analog tape machine to your DAW. Modeled from a real A800 at Ocean Way Studios, it captures the warm low-end, harmonic saturation, and cohesive presence that defined countless classic albums. Use the Input and Output controls to dial in anything from clean warmth to rich tape distortion. Tape speed options (7.5, 15, or 30 IPS) and four tape formulas let you shape head bump, frequency response, and texture, while Noise, EQ, and Bias controls offer deeper coloration. It’s perfect for producers and mixers wanting to add analog glue, punch, and character to drums, guitars, vocals, or full mixes. Compatible with any audio interface via UAD Native, and also included as Apollo Realtime/UAD-2 versions. Ideal for hobbyists and pros alike seeking genuine tape emulation.
