Toontrack Modern Metal EZX is a drum sound library for producers writing heavy rock, hardcore, death metal and progressive metal. It runs inside EZdrummer or Superior Drummer rather than functioning as a standalone instrument. This Windows listing is for the v1.0.1 library update, with a 32.3 MB download.
Recorded at Graphic Nature Audio in New Jersey, the expansion pairs Will Putney’s engineering and production with drum sampling performances by Billy Rymer of The Dillinger Escape Plan. Five distinct kits provide the core sounds, supported by additional kicks, snares and a broad selection of cymbals. The focus is on forceful, aggressive drums with enough tonal variety to suit different approaches to modern metal.
Putney’s custom presets offer starting points for shaping your drum sound, while the included MIDI grooves and fills help build arrangements across heavier styles. It is a practical option for home producers who want metal-focused drum sounds and patterns within a compatible Toontrack setup.
The library requires 3.7 GB of free disk space, 4 GB RAM, and EZdrummer 2.1.8 or Superior Drummer 3.2.0 or later.
