Tracktion F-em is a hybrid FM synthesizer for Windows that combines frequency modulation, virtual analog synthesis and sample-based sound generation. It suits producers and sound designers who want to build detailed basses, leads and evolving rhythmic patches, with macros available for quicker adjustments.

Its freely configurable 11-operator matrix brings together eight synchronizable waveform operators, two sample operators and one noise operator. This flexible routing supports both classic FM-style tones and more complex hybrid textures. A quad-timbral architecture lets you work with multiple layers, while dual multimode filters and a multi-effects section provide further tone shaping.

For movement, F-em offers envelopes with up to 32 tempo-syncable stages and two eight-step Flow LFOs. Each LFO step can use a different waveform, with freely drawn shapes and modulation-controlled switching for intricate patterns. A deep modulation and modifier matrix connects these sources to sound-shaping parameters.

An arpeggiator, accessible effects controls and quick layer switching make it practical to develop ideas without adjusting every parameter individually.
