VarispeedDelay is a free delay plugin where each repeat plays back at a different tape speed, so pitch and duration shift together. The time knob covers free mode from 0.1 ms to 20 seconds or tempo-synced delays up to two bars, with tap tempo and a ring that shows note divisions at the current tempo. The speed control ranges from 1/4x to 4x, with a 3×3 shortcut grid for octaves, fourths, and fifths. Feedback goes from 0 to 2 and can recycle raw (cumulative varispeed) or stable (one-shot varispeed). A 7-band graphic EQ sits in the repetition path with ±12 dB and bypass. Separate dry and wet levels are included. Slow repeats overlap the following ones instead of cutting off at the period boundary. A spacing switch keeps repeats on the grid or lets them run away like a tape loop. Short crossfades reduce clicks at repetition edges and the input/recycle join. A soft clip with adjustable threshold from −36 to −1 dBFS protects the recycle path, and a loop-gain readout shows when the tail stops decaying. The resizable UI supports typed values, shift-drag fine control, double-click resets, and hover explanations. It suits hobby producers using FL Studio, Ableton, or Logic on Windows or Mac.
