Variety Of Sound ThrillseekerVBL mkII is a free Windows VST effect that pairs Variable-Mu-style tube compression with saturation. It combines level control with tonal coloration, making it useful for hobby producers who want compression to shape the character of a sound rather than simply manage its dynamics.
Version 2.0 expands the available tonal range, from gentle, rounded compression to a firmer, rougher response. That flexibility makes it worth exploring when a track needs either subtle warmth or a more obvious dose of distortion. The mkII revision also updates the user experience and technical design, with Stateful Saturation 2.0 underpinning its approach to coloration and more control over the resulting sound.
Available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, ThrillseekerVBL mkII suits compatible Windows VST setups, including FL Studio and Ableton Live. It is aimed at producers looking for a character compressor that can move between restrained gain riding and more assertive tube-style tone shaping without adding another paid plugin to their collection.
