Wavegrove HCL Islander is a vari-mu compressor and clipper for Windows, available in VST2 and VST3 formats. Built around a parallel tube-drive approach, it combines dynamic control with saturation for hobby producers shaping individual tracks, buses, or a final mix in FL Studio or Ableton Live.
Separate wet and dry gain controls make parallel processing straightforward. Gain Link moves these controls in opposite directions, helping you adjust the blend between compressed and dry signals. The wet path offers brighter saturation, while the dry path adds a smoother character.
Stereo, mid-side, linked, and dual-mono operation give you several ways to manage dynamics. Attack ranges from 0.2–40 ms, with release settings from 50–2000 ms. Feedback and feed-forward sidechain options include full-range operation plus 75 Hz and 150 Hz settings.
An integrated clipper provides additional peak control when increasing loudness. VU meters show compression activity, while delta monitoring lets you audition the difference from the original signal. Level calibration, linked controls, and optional oversampling round out a flexible tool for compression, tonal shaping, and gain staging.
