Xpand!2 by AIR Music Technology is a multitimbral instrument workstation for producers who want a broad sound palette without building every patch from scratch. Its thousands of ready-to-play patches draw on wavetable synthesis, FM synthesis and sample playback, with sounds organized into 29 categories for straightforward browsing. Combine up to four parts in a single patch to create layered textures, keyboard splits or independently controlled instruments. Each part has its own MIDI channel, note range, mix, arpeggiation, modulation and effects settings. Polyphonic and monophonic modes support everything from chord arrangements to focused bass and lead lines. Six context-sensitive Smart Knobs put useful sound adjustments within reach, while Easy mode lets you edit shared parameters across all four parts together.
