Soundtoys Radiator is a tube saturation and EQ plugin inspired by the Altec 1567A mixer, a colourful piece of 1960s hardware associated with early Motown recordings. It brings warmth, grit and punch to digital tracks by modelling the saturation and harmonic character of the original input and output amplifiers. Use it to give bass more attitude, add weight and edge to drums, or introduce vintage colour across a mix. Simple bass and treble controls shape the tone, while the mix knob blends processed and dry signals for straightforward parallel processing. You can also switch the modelled hardware noise on or off. With interacting circuit models and just a handful of controls, Radiator suits hobby producers who want to explore tube character without navigating a complex interface, from gentle warmth to more obvious drive.
