Lector is a stereo vocoder plugin that combines a 100-band analysis filter bank with an equally large synthesis filter bank, letting you shape incoming audio with extreme precision. The intensity of each frequency band in the analysis stage controls the volume of a corresponding bandpass filter in the synthesis stage, using envelope followers with adjustable attack and decay. You can feed the synthesis bank with the built-in 16-voice synthesizer or an external carrier signal, which means you can apply melodies or chords to vocals, speech, or any other audio. The result is clear, intelligible vocoding that works equally well for robot voices, whispering textures, talking drum loops, resonant bells, or dripping water effects. A rich effects section on the right side adds further character. Whether you want to distort a vocal, add subtle harmonies, or create unusual sound design for film and games, Lector gives you a flexible toolset. It is aimed at hobby producers and sound designers using Windows VST2 or VST3 hosts such as FL Studio, Ableton Live, or Logic (via wrapper).
