SketchCassette II is a plugin that models the sound of 4-track cassette recorders, giving you a wide range of lo-fi tape effects. It’s aimed at hobby producers who want to add vintage character, from gentle wobble to full-on attic destruction. The plugin includes 12 tape type and quality profiles, age modeling with continuous control, and two saturation models (A for gentle, B for harsh). You can add tape hiss, dropouts with stereo width control, and a highly adjustable wow and flutter section that syncs to your DAW’s tempo. An FM mode lets you modulate flutter rate with the wow controls, and there’s flanging, noise-reduction encoding compression with brightness and amount controls, plus mix controls for tape filtering and compression. It comes with 61 factory presets. SketchCassette II runs on Windows 7+ (VST3, AAX 64-bit) and macOS 10.10–11 (AU, VST3, AAX 64-bit, Intel or Apple Silicon). It’s a creative effect for adding tape-style warmth, instability, and noise to individual tracks or full mixes.
